Sometimes us humans can have a really bad habit of sitting around waiting for things to happen.

We know what we want and sometimes (just sometimes) we find ourselves accidentally blaming the world when what we want doesn’t just happen. I’m guilty of it too don’t worry.

Over the past couple of weeks I have been standing by someone who was stressed but showed up for the challenge and seriously took some control back – and it worked. She had opportunities coming from different directions and they weren’t lucky opportunities. She worked for them.

Let’s talk about how you can step up, take initiative and make a plan so that ultimately you can go kick butt and start reaching your goals.

Learning How To Step Up And Take Initiative

1. Know what you want

You wont get very far if you don’t know what you want. For two reasons. Reason number one is that if you don’t know what you want, its hard to take action on the right road. Second is that if you don’t know what you want and you’re taking action that doesn’t seem to go anywhere, you chances of staying on tracks are significantly decreased.

If you don’t know what you want, you need ot think about some actions and steps you can take that will help you discover what you want. Then, go from there.

2. Be hands on

You’ve got to go and do things. Stop thinking, start doing.

3. Take responsibility

Own where you are, own where you want to go and don’t even think about blaming anyone else or the world around you. We are all faced with different challenges it is your job to grow, learn and adapt.

4. Have the humility to listen and learn

Don’t ever be afraid to ask questions and to continue to learn and grow if you want to step up.

5. Have the courage to fall 

Constantly. The more you do it the easier it gets.

6. Build a network 

Then use them. Build a network that you trust. Build a network that challenges you. Build a network that you can learn from. Build a network that you can help.

At the end of the day, strive to keep you body healthy and your mind well. So that you can take life, enjoy it and make that most of it every single day.
